Chapter 6 — Mission Complete

Six weeks blasted by at the HLK Launchpad Internship. Shoutout to the Saterns: Angel Macaalay, Cindy Chou, Tayla Whitley, Joerdan Carney, Grace Newlin, and Caroline Mansfield who completed two outstanding campaigns. We learned A TON including how agency life runs, presenting, addressing feedback, and giving 100% of our energy. Get the inside scoop on how HLK impacted us.

What’s your biggest takeaway from the HLK Launchpad program? 

My biggest takeaway from the HLK Launchpad program is how important communication is in the advertising industry. Good communication results in good team work and an overall successful campaign!

My biggest takeaway was that I learned how to tell a story through strategic planning and found out that I really like this position and would consider it as my future career. I learned that planning is not only presenting what you found about the audience but also telling the story of them, which is something that I found super interesting!

I learned a lot about myself during this internship and what I could improve on but the biggest takeaway is that you can never learn too much, no such thing! We are all constant learners.

All the research and revisions that it takes to put together a presentation. I really enjoyed learning from my mentor and working with the fellow interns to find out what makes a successful pitch deck and creating our own.

My biggest takeaway is I LOVE WRITING!!! I have never written so much every day and I know this is the career I was to pursue now. I learned so much about writing as well as what the other positions do. Partnering with the art director, Joerdan, allowed me to practice creative communication.

What is something you will miss from the past six weeks? 

Something I will miss from the past six weeks is using Slack and waking up early!

Something that I will miss is talking to my fellow Saterns and mentor. I loved working with them and my mentor Kendall has been super helpful and welcoming and I felt really lucky to have met them through this program!

I will miss logging on to zoom seeing the beautiful faces of my teammates and HLK team!

I’ll really miss the collaborative brainstorms and being able to go into the office. Even though I didn’t make it in as much as I’d have liked to, the HLK office space is very cool and the employees are so helpful and welcoming.

I will miss the collaboration and chance to share my ideas with people high up in the industry. I will miss my fellow interns and hope our paths cross in the future. It will be strange not meeting with my mentor, Jamie, every day!

What was your favorite brand to work on: Greenridge Farm or Bayer PMPH?

My favorite brand to work on is Greenridge Farm. It was so fun to creatively come up with new ideas for a new campaign:)

My favorite has to be Greenridge Farm because the audience was more relatable than PMPH, and we also had a bit more room for creative concepts and partnerships!x

I liked both for different reasons. I think Greenridge Farm appealed more to my creative brain, pushing us to come up with unique campaign concepts. Working on Bayer  PMPH was a great experience in finding the right direction. One that speaks both to the strength of an existing, large brand and our creative insight. I’m definitely learned a lot from both and had a great experience at the HLK Launchpad Internship. Thank you so much!

I loved Greenridge Farm because I personally love writing from a playful tone of voice. I liked pushing the envelope with creative ideas and I think the work turned out great! As for Bayer PMPH, the challenge turned out to be rewarding. While I struggled with the campaign at first, I pushed through and created meaningful work for the PMPs!

What are you looking forward to this fall?

I am looking forward to the return of pumpkin spice lattes this fall

The weather!!! Fall is the best season. Rain. Football games. Sweaters. I am excited to head into my senior year of college and catch up with my friends.
